The RCMP Detachment covers the Town of Yarmouth and provides a variety of law enforcement and community-based policing services to the citizens of the Town of Yarmouth, as well as those who access the community as a service centre for southwest Nova Scotia. The RCMP is dedicated to preserving the peace and protecting the lives and property of the residents of this community.

As part of Canada’s national police force, the Yarmouth Detachment of the RCMP is committed to promoting safe homes and safe communities. Every year, the Detachment responds to approximately 4,000 calls for service, dealing with a wide range of complaints – from traffic violations, assaults, drugs, and many other Criminal Code investigations.

The county of Yarmouth is covered by our Rural Detachment, which is within the town limits and is home to many of our specialized units, such as Forensic Identification, Drug Unit, Major Crime Unit, Western Traffic Services, Clare/Yarmouth Street Crime Unit, Police Dog Services and the Integrated Border Enforcement Team.
