The Town of Yarmouth is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our Parks Department as a Temporary Labourer. This position plays a key role inmaintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of the Town’s parks, waterfront, green spaces and playgrounds
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- The overall maintenance of the Town parks, grounds, and playgrounds.
- Operating commercial mowers, landscaping equipment, power tools, and Town vehicles safely and effectively.
- Pruning, weeding, watering, cultivating, and maintaining landscaped areas.
- Assisting with playground and facility safety inspections and participating in workplace safety initiatives.
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing moderate to heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Working weekends and overtime when operationally required.
Qualifications and Competencies:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- A valid driver's licence and the ability to provide a current driver's abstract.
- Experience operating parks and landscaping equipment, including commercial mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, and other related tools.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to providing quality service.

Hourly rate - $20.00/hour. The term of employment is from June 29, 2026, to November 27, 2026.
The successful candidate may be considered for re-employment for the May to November 2027 season, subject to operational needs and satisfactory performance.
