A Public Participation Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 8th, at 6 pm at Yarmouth Town Hall, 400 Main Street.
What is the meeting about?
The Town of Yarmouth has been working with non-profit housing providers to provide surplus Town lands for projects that have an affordable housing component. Approximately 20 Town-owned lots have been identified as potential candidates. While additional work is still required, the following six lots are proposed to be rezoned to allow for a wider range of housing types and modest density increases:
➡ 56 Tooker Street
➡ 37 Argyle Street
➡ 22 Chester Street
➡ 11 Tooker Street
➡ 4 Bond Street
➡ 33 Barnard Street
The proposed rezoning of these lots is a necessary step to implement 'Initiative #1' of the Council-approved 'Housing Action Plan' designed to increase housing units in Yarmouth. The Housing Action Plan is associated with and funded by the Government of Canada Housing Accelerator Fund.
