A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, January 8th, at 6:30 pm in Council chambers, located at 400 Main Street.
Members of the public can attend and speak at the hearing, or hand in written submissions. Written submissions can be also emailed to admin@townofyarmouth.ca, or delivered to Town Hall, and must be received by 12 pm (noon) on January 5th, 2026.
This Public Hearing will address the following item:
Housing Accelerator Fund Action Plan – Planning Amendments
The Town was successful in its application to the federal Housing Accelerator Fund, with its application including an initiative to make regulatory changes to support housing. The proposed amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw implement this initiative through a variety of ways, including clarifying permissions for accessory dwelling units, refining residential lot requirements, enabling more housing downtown and updating regulations for supportive housing.
The proposed Land Use Bylaw amendments include a set of rezonings of lands in proximity to several key Town institutions such as the Yarmouth Hospital and NSCC, Burridge Campus. For a complete list of properties to be “upzoned” see the table below.
