Traffic control/detours at Main/Vancouver/Chestnut Intersection

Please be reminded that construction at the intersection of Main, Vancouver, and Chestnut Streets is now underway. Excavation work in the area requires lanes closures and traffic control. If you are travelling through the area, please expect delays and note the following:
➡ Work will be performed each week day from approximately 7 am to 7 pm, but is weather dependent.
➡ Water Street, between Cann Street and Vancouver Street, will be local traffic only.
➡ There will be no right-hand turn from Vancouver Street onto Water Street.
➡ Flaggers will be located at every approach to the intersection to direct traffic.
➡ In addition to these detours/closures, new detours could arise as needed. Major changes will be announced, but please expect and be prepared for new lane closures.
Please follow all traffic signs and laws, slow down in the affected area and take extra precautions.
Transit/Town Offices Closed Monday

Please be advised that due to the Victoria Day holiday, Town of Yarmouth Transit will not be in operation and town offices will be closed on Monday, May 20th. Transit will resume, and town offices will reopen on Tuesday,

Use of Starter Pistols at Gateway Park May 14th & 16th

A school district Track Meet is taking place on Tuesday May 14th and Thursday May 16th at Gateway Park, located at the corner of William Street and Southeast Street. The meet will run all day, on both days, and into the evenings. Residents in the area and the general public, please be advised that organizers will be using starter pistols throughout the event for various races. While the pistols may sound like actual gun fire, they pose no threat. We wanted to offer this information ahead of time, given that a meet like this has not been held in over a decade at this location, and these sounds may be alarming to some.

As part of the underground infrastructure project now underway at the intersection of Main/Vancouver/Chestnut Streets, the contractor will install a temporary water line on Monday, May 13th. This work will require lanes closures and traffic control very similar to what was in place earlier this week.
