This is to service notice that the Council of the Town of Yarmouth, at its meeting on Thursday, March 11th, 2021, at 7:30 pm, approved a development proposal to rezone and enter into a Development Agreement for the subject property of 25-27 Clements Avenue.
What is the rezoning and development proposal about?
A developer submitted an application for a Development
Agreement and the Rezoning of 25-27 Clements Avenue from its
current zoning of a Low-Density Residential (R-1) zone to a
High-Density Residential (R-3) zone. The purpose of the
application and rezoning is to permit the developer’s proposal of constructing a 23 unit apartment building on the subject property.
How will this affect me?
Approving this development proposal will assist in providing much-needed affordable and adequate housing within the Town of Yarmouth. Planning staff feel the location of the subject property and the proposal itself meets both the Town’s and Public’s desires for more affordable housing options.

Any aggrieved person, the Provincial Director of Planning or Council of an adjoining Municipality may, within 14 days of publication of this notice, appeal Council’s decision to the Nova Scotia Utility & Review Board in accordance with the Municipal Government Act. Repeal of the Property Tax Exemption Bylaw
This is to service notice that the Council of the Town of Yarmouth, at its meeting on Thursday, March 11th, 2021, at 7:30 pm, approved the repeal of the Property Tax Exemption Bylaw as recommended by the Director of Finance. The intent of the repeal is to replace the bylaw with a Property Tax Exemption Policy. The policy will allow residential property owners of a single-family dwelling unit located within the Town of Yarmouth to apply for a property tax reduction if their total family income is less than $25,000.
