A Public Participation meeting previously scheduled for Tuesday, July 4th, with the Planning Advisory Committee, has been cancelled pending a legal opinion on the Transitional and Supportive Housing application for 8 James Street.
For those requesting details on a future meeting:
the process for this application has been interrupted while the town's CAO seeks a legal opinion on a related matter. Until the opinion is received and considered, the process is paused. It is not unusual for the CAO to seek legal advice on behalf of the Town. It is unfortunate that the timing has affected a meeting schedule, but it does happen occasionally. Following receipt and consideration of the legal advice, notice will be provided to the applicant, and to the public, of any public meetings, public hearings, or public participation meetings.
At last Thursday’s regular council meeting, the operational budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year was tabled for council approval. Budget highlights include no increase to tax rates, and the town becoming debt-free next month.
Residents of Clements Street, please be advised that haulers were not able to pick up blue bags today. Pick-up will happen tomorrow morning (Thursday, June 22nd).
On Friday, June 9th, a 100th-anniversary commemoration event will take place at the Yarmouth Cenotaph (War Memorial) at 11 am. There will be a temporary street closure and a change in the transit route to accommodate this important event.
A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, June 15th, at 6:30 pm. Topics: Short-term Rental Accommodation Amendments and Micro-Distillery and Craft Beverage Production -
Land Use Bylaw Amendments
