Reminder: Rail Trail and Maud Lewis Trail Closures
- Details
- Category: News & Notices
Please be reminded that as of Friday August 8th, all rail trails within town limits are closed. The Maud Lewis Trail that connects Parade Street and Starrs Road is also closed. Barricades have been erected at all entrance points to these trails. PLEASE ALSO NOTE: if the barricades are not in place, it does not mean the trail is reopened.
Some concerned individuals seem to have made their own determination that these trails should be open, and are removing the barriers. The trails will remain closed until an announcement is made stating otherwise. Downed barriers alone does NOT mean they are open.
We thank everyone for their cooperation as we all work through these challenging times of unusually hot, dry conditions.

Times Are Dry - Please Conserve Water
- Details
- Category: News & Notices
It's been a hot, dry summer with almost no rainfall since early June. The Town of Yarmouth Water Utility is asking customers to voluntarily make small changes so that water use is cut back. With your help, we can continue to protect our valuable Lake George water resource while using it responsibly. Here are some tips:
✅ Please skip the watering of lawns. Before dry times hit, use large containers to catch and use rainwater for plants and flowers requiring water.
✅ Reuse cooking water for gardens and plants.
✅ Fix leaky faucets, toilets, and appliances.
✅ Take shorter showers and use a low-flow shower head.
✅ Turn off the water when shaving or brushing your teeth.
✅ Use less water when doing full loads of laundry and dishes, and by using proper cycle settings for load sizes.
Thanks for doing your part to help #ConserveWater!
