As part of the underground infrastructure project now underway at the intersection of Main/Vancouver/Chestnut Streets, the contractor will install a temporary water line on Monday, May 13th. This will require a disruption in water service. Please note the following:
- The disruption will affect addresses on the south side of Vancouver Street, from Main Street to the driveway of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital (not affecting the hospital).
- The disruption will begin at approximately 7:30 am. If all goes as planned, water service should be returned no later than 7:30 pm.
- If you are within the area of the disruption and use an electric hot water heater, it is recommended that you turn off the power supply to your water tank sometime before 7:30 AM on Monday - this may help prevent element burnout.
- When water service has been reconnected, we ask that you flush your system of any dirt, or air that may have entered as a result of the work. The best place to flush your system is through bath tub taps, as they don’t have strainers.
- Once the flushing has been completed, you can then turn on the power supply to your electric hot water tank.
PLEASE NOTE: The contractor will deliver the above instructions, along with contact information, to each address that may be impacted.
We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding during this necessary disruption.
