A major infrastructure project that began last fall on Water Street resumes this week. Finishing the project will bring significant improvements to the section between Gardner Street and Richards Lane and will support the new housing developments underway in the area. Please note the following:

Prep Work Happening this Week

➡ Crews will begin preparation work, including the delivery of trailers, pipe, and manholes, along with initial layout activities.
➡ Traffic control will be in place on Thursday, April 2nd, with stop-and-go traffic as required. The area affected will be from where the Yarmouth County Rail Trail crosses Water Street (south of the RCMP building) to just before Gardner Street.

Construction Phase (Starting Week of April 6)

➡ Full construction activities will begin following Easter, during the week of April 6, and are expected to continue for approximately two months.
➡ A full road closure is planned to begin that week, beginning Tuesday, April 7th, weather permitting.
➡ Water Street will be shut down between Richards Lane and Cann Street.
➡ Richards Lane and Cann Street will remain open to traffic between Water Street and Main Street.
➡ Vehicles traveling on Water Street will be redirected via Richards Lane, Main Street, and Cann Street during the closure.
➡ Construction will not interrupt access to nearby businesses.
➡ Pedestrians cannot use this section of Water Street while construction is ongoing.
➡ Traffic control measures will remain in place throughout construction, including lane restrictions and detours.

We thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding as this important infrastructure work is carried out.
