Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 - Yarmouth, N.S. – As Remembrance Day approaches, the Town of Yarmouth has been busy doing its part to reach the goal of planting 1.1 Million Tulips honouring 1.1 Million Canadians who served during the Second World War.
Councillor Jim MacLeod, along with Wedgeport Legion members Todd Muise and Andre Boudreau, have been busy this week presenting bulbs to schools in Yarmouth County. A presentation of bulbs took place today at Meadowfields Community School as part of the school's Remembrance Day assembly. Presentations have also been made at Carleton School, Plymouth School, Wedgeport School, and Veterans Place Seniors residence.
The town was gifted the 5,000 “Liberation75” tulip bulbs during the recent Communities in Bloom National Symposium and Awards hosted in Yarmouth. In addition to planting tulips in town, bulbs are being donated to Royal Canadian Legion branches and local schools. More schools will receive their bulbs this week.
