Kim’s Kustom Embroidery
Personalizing a gift can really take it to the next level, and Kim’s Kustom Embroidery is where that happens. For the past 20 years, Kim has embroidered many a towel or blanket for gifts, as well as uniforms for workplaces and sports teams.
Kim’s Kustom Embroidery provides embroidery services, heat pressing, and minor alterations for clothing. While customers can bring in their own articles to be embroidered, Kim’s Kustom Embroidery carries T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and hats that can be purchased and embroidered.
What’s your signature product?
Our service is one-on-one, first-come-first-served. We offer custom embroidery on top of embroidery of set designs that we have in our books. For custom embroidery, the customer can provide us with the artwork or with a digital file, and for a one-time programming fee up front, they can then have that design embroidered as many times as they’d like for only the embroidery cost. We can do one item or a thousand items; it’s up to you.
How did you get started?
I started doing embroidery at Mark’s Work Wearhouse here in Yarmouth, back when they had just started an embroidery department. Once they decided to close their doors, employees were given the option to purchase the machinery from the owner. My brother-in-law convinced me that starting my own business was a good idea. So we started doing some research, and then three months later, in May 1996, we opened Kim’s Kustom Embroidery.
What inspires you to do what you do?
I’m a social person and I love sports, so I love getting to work with the public and with sports teams. The part of the job that I love the most and that inspires me is the people. I enjoy doing what I do, but I love the people.
