24th Annual Shark Scramble

The Yarmouth Shark Scramble is an annual event held in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Started in 1998 by Bob Gavel, hundreds of participants on over a dozen vessels compete each year to catch the largest shark.
In the 2004 Shark Scramble, a Canadian Record Shortfin Mako Shark was landed weighing in at 1083 lbs and measuring 11 ft 3”. A life-size Replica of this Canadian Record Shark will be placed on the Yarmouth Waterfront this summer and unveiled during the weigh-ins of the 2021 YSS Tournament (see photo of replica below).
Dates are August 17th – 20th, with the weigh-ins taking place at 12:00pm on August 20th, 2022, there will lots of children activities taking place that day on the waterfront as well.

It's 2022 and this summer the Coal Shed Music Festival is back! Mark your calendars for the last three weekends of August.
This summer the waterfront will see performances once again on the following dates: August 12-14, August 19-21, and August 26-28.

Switch Open Street

The SWITCH event, back for 2022, is scheduled for Sunday, July 24th and Sunday, August 28th.
Switch Open Street is a re-occurring event where volunteers take back local streets transforming them into safe, fun, festive and carefree family spaces.
Everyone is welcome at SWITCH, with the exception of cars. Whatever you can imagine will happen in our streets. Residents will be encouraged to join the party for FREE and participate in planned activities, classes, shopping, food, music, entertainment and much more!
