Council appoints citizens to a variety of Citizen Advisory Committees and Municipal Corporations and Boards, in accordance with policies establishing the Committees and/or Corporations. Normally, appointments are made in November, and are for a period of two years. Appointments can be renewed at the discretion of Council. Occasionally, when a citizen resigns from a committee before completing his full term, appointments will be made at other times of the year. In order to apply for a committee appointment, a citizen should submit a letter of interest identifying the Committee or Board he/she would like to be appointed to, as well as relevant background information to assist Council in understanding the assets you would bring to the Committee or Board. Council normally gives preference to residents and/or tax payers of the Town of Yarmouth when making appointments. In order to ensure as many opportunities as possible for citizen involvement, Council will normally only appoint a citizen to one committee or board.
