lake-george-smallLake George was officially declared as the Town of Yarmouth water source on the 17th of April 1879.  On the 8th of December 1881, the residents finally had access to the water from Lake George.  In 1891, the Town of Yarmouth took official ownership of the Lake George Reservoir and the water utility system.

For the safety of those who access the water from Lake George, there are restrictions in place concerning construction, land use, and activities in and around Lake George.  These activities are restricted within the Lake George Watershed.  This area has run-off into the lake.  For that reason, the restrictions are in place.  For complete details and a map with an outlined area, please see the document below.
