An ICSP is a long term plan, developed in consultation with community members, that provides direction for the community to realize the sustainability goals it has for the environmental, cultural/social, and economic dimensions of its identity.

“Sustainable developments are those that meet present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.” (WECD, 1987).

The Town of Yarmouth would like to take this concept one step further by encouraging “regenerative” developments – a concept that we can do better than sustaining, that the Town undertakes and encourages developments that improve current conditions and provide for an enhanced environment for all living things. In other words, to try and leave this earth in a better way than when we found it.
